Breakdown Response 24/7

Breakdown response cover is included in our hire rates. Out of hours call-outs are managed and controlled by our on-call Duty Manager. We respond to call-out requests within four hours.

Service vans are fully stocked with the common parts and consumables needed to cope with and respond to servicing and breakdowns.

Specialist Advice & Expertise

As specialists we can advise you on what is needed to complete your project in the most effective package. We can arrange all the connections or provide advice to your technicians or contractors to get the job done.

Testing, Planned Maintenance and Servicing

Routine maintenance is carried out on our customers’ sites by prior arrangement on request. The cost of routine servicing during normal working hours is included in our hire rates.

All generator hire sets are serviced at 500 running hour intervals by our expert in-house engineers. Service intervals are scheduled electronically at the start of hire, and continue to be monitored by mobile staff. Servicing may be performed outside of normal working hours at an additional cost if required.

Ordering, Delivery, Off-Hire & Collection

The minimum hire period of all equipment is one week. Normal working hours for the delivery and collection of our equipment are Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30. Out of hours requests will be met and priced on application.

Off-hire requests can be made by customers via telephone or email. When an offhire request is received, a unique off-hire reference number will be provided to the individual off-hiring the equipment.

Collection is arranged at the time of off-hire, however if this is not possible, we will call back to confirm. Collection is arranged for within two days of the off-hire date. Alternatively, equipment can be returned to our nearest depot.

Our vehicles are ADR compliant for legal transportation of fuel so that we can deliver generators and fuel tanks full of fuel and ready to go. Our four-wheel drive vehicles enable us to access difficult off-road locations.

In the event of an abortive delivery / collection, the customer is charged the full rate. If the collection is excessively delayed, the equipment is put back on hire.

Operator Familiarisation

All equipment is delivered with operating guidelines. In addition to this, our delivery drivers provide customers with an operation demonstration and an overview of how to carry out daily equipment checks.

Lost / Stolen Equipment

In the event that a set is lost or stolen, please refer to Appendix I  Terms and Conditions of Hire the replacement charge is calculated as set out in the Terms and Conditions of Hire. Sets will be replaced as soon as possible, subject to availability, provided that the security arrangements have been reviewed and necessary measures taken to prevent further thefts.

Fuel

Generators are supplied with a full fuel load and tanks are provided with fuel levels agreed at the time of supply. Fuel used is invoiced at the end of the hire. If fuel management is undertaken, this is invoiced at the time of supply. We also provide a range of ADR compliant bulk fuel tanks to enable the safe and legal transportation of fuel.

Fuel Management

We can also provide a full fuel management service for instances when generator sets are required for prolonged periods of time. We can:

  • Offer remote fuel usage data
  • Provide fuel consumption records where RFM is requested
  • Remove the pressure from you, reducing the risk of no fuel situations

Loadshare

By using synchronising technology and the latest generator sets Abird can design and install a system with the emphasis on reducing fuel consumption as well as reducing emissions and your carbon footprint. We can achieve this when your site load reduces during the night but requires a peak during the day.

For example, if your site needs 500 kVA base load supply and only 100 kVA supply at night we will utilise a 500 kVA for normal working hours. When the load decreases we will swap the load onto a 100 kVA. The 500 kVA would go into a sleep mode until the load increases again; we can set this for any time of the day.

On past projects where we have installed this system, we have saved our customers up to 30% in fuel consumption, leading to a reduction in their emissions and carbon foot print.

We would be happy to site survey any application and provide you with a forecast on fuel savings. This can also be monitored via the deep-sea control panel, giving a read out for fuel usage in litres per hour.

Remote Fleet Management

Most of our rental diesel generators are remote fleet management enabled and use the latest app-based connected technology to give you complete visibility of the equipment you’ve got on hire and how it’s performing. This method helps you manage your equipment on hire and monitor how it’s performing.

When will I receive my order?

In most cases, a product on our website will give you an indication of the current stock availability, but shipping is not uniform for all products. We maintain fantastic relationships with all of our suppliers and we aim to get products to customers within 3 business days of the order being taken. This availability is based on information from our suppliers and from sales and supply patterns. The availability information given is a guide only and not a guarantee as there are external factors that we may not have control over.

Coronavirus Update – UK couriers and transport companies will not currently guarantee delivery times and we are seeing a slight delay in deliveries – please bear this in mind when ordering.

Specialist Couriers – Some items such as the larger portable power stations are sent by specialist courier as standard couriers will not accept them. These specialist couriers are very reliable but sometimes don’t have tracking or timed delivery.

Split deliveries – We sometimes need to send orders for more than one item by different courier networks (portable power stations for example) – so you may receive items at different times.

1500rpm machines or larger diesel gensets however are typically priced on application and all depend on the destination. We will be happy to quote on any large diesel generator and discuss your needs over the phone or via email.

Most orders placed before 12pm on a business day will be shipped from our suppliers on the same day provided the product is in stock. If you need to be certain an item is in stock and available, or if you need a lead time, it’s worth calling our sales team on 01329 722390. Pricing for extended shipping areas like Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and outlying Islands, Outer Hebrides, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Scilly Isles, and other postcodes not considered as UK mainland can be obtained also by calling our offices.

Please note that the processing of a payment and acknowledgement email does not constitute a legally binding contact. In the case of mispricing, changes in stock quantity, or if we believe the machine will be misused, we reserve the right to cancel the order and provide a full refund.

Heavy Items

You will be contacted by phone after ordering a larger item to confirm a delivery date before your order is dispatched. Large or heavy items are dispatched through a pallet network, so if we can’t get in contact with you, we may be unable to send out your item on a next day delivery. Please be sure to include a working phone number with your order.

Heavy items will require the recipient to make arrangements to take delivery of the goods and may require the recipient to help the courier unload the item. For items that are delivered on a pallet the courier will leave the pallet as close to your door as possible.

1500rpm diesel generators will require forklift (or similar) offloading; if this is not available then we can arrange a Hiab offload at an additional price – please call us to discuss any delivery requirements.
